Life is all about firsts – this year was the first time that I woke up on my birthday in New York City, the first time that I strolled through Central Park, had brunch at Sarabeths, went shopping at Bergdof Goodman, and perused the Museum of Modern Art. But you know what else life is all about? Constants – without constants, everything can seem like its constantly floating, not here and not there. And so, this year, I once again got to wake up on my birthday beside the woman I am going to marry, I (as per every year) dined on French Toast for breakfast (although it was from the hotel, and not made by my dad), I enjoyed opening thoughtful and beautiful gifts, and I got to do (once again) do everything I want to do. Its so important to find that balance between the new and the constant – to keep life both interesting and also comforting.
