Barbados, the land of rum, of white sand beaches, and of food! When we visited this beautiful destination with Visit Barbados a few weeks ago, they told us that 2018 had been deemed the #YearofCulinaryExperiences. And boy did that hashtag not disappoint. So much of the delicious food that we enjoyed left me both wanting for more and also not, because it was actually that satisfying and tasty. So today, I am sharing the top five meals that we enjoyed in Barbados.
A real treat for locals & tourists alike, this open-air fish fry blooms on Friday nights and offers the very freshest seafood. The "plating" is far from glamorous, but the food is delicious, and the music and ensuing dance is mesmerizing!

Afternoon Tea
The British influence is very alive + well in Barbados, so much so that our resort actually offered a daily Afternoon Tea service. And you know how much Monika and I live & die for a good, three tiered pastry + individual tea pot situation. Hearing the sea breeze while partaking in this luxury meal was truly heavenly.
There's something magical about sitting on the beach, at sunset, and enjoying a scrumptious meal that was just barbecued meters away from where you are sitting. We had a chance to discover this Beach BBQ set-up one night and it was one of our favourite meals!

Fine Dining
Lucky for us, the Sea Breeze Beach House where we stayed while in Barbados offered a ton of a-la-carte fine dining options, which actually stayed true to their three course meal reputation. We wined and dined under the Caribbean sky to the most delicious dishes!
Most buffets get a bad reputation for being redundant, lack-lustre and not so fresh, and in Barbados, we were pleasantly surprised at how innovative, interesting, and just down-right delicious the daily buffet selections were! We definitely took advantage of this and found any excuse to be back at the buffet.

What's your favourite part of a vacation? Mine is definitely the food and drink, getting to sample what the rest of the world eats is such a special treat!
