DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
If you were asked to pinpoint the exact thing you will be doing five years from now, would you be able to? Would you want to? Would you be happy that you could?
I have always been one to make plans and goals, but somehow, I have also almost always had a way open mind to the wonders and possibilities of the world. I have made milestones for me to accomplish, but kept in mind that there might come a time when those become obsolete.
And, for me anyway, I feel that this mindset is what has allowed me to completely uproot from my "perfectly normal" life and move across the world. It really seems like we have been jumping at each opportunity that peers around the corner. Not waiting for it to actualize, but actually willing it into destiny ourselves.

This mindset of seizing life and realizing that there is so much of it to explore comes with a binary conclusion. On the one hand, there is endless new experiences to discover and fall in love. But on the other, you begin to wonder if then you will ever be happy in one place, with one life.
On our travels here, we have met many like-minded people who have also left their "normal" lives to seek out something greater, and stretch their minds with new cultures, experiences and languages. And this discussion of always seeking the next space and the next city comes up very often.
so what is the answer then?
Do you end up on a life-long journey for satisfaction, only to be let down and constantly hungry for new experiences? Or do you settle for what you have, and wonder what else is out there?
Clearly, I can't dictate what is right for everyone, but for me and my wife, we decided the question of not knowing would eat us alive. And thus, we left our house and our car and our jobs and our families and our yoga studio and our coffee place and our group of friends and our shopping spots, and moved to Berlin.
And while everything here has been far from peachy-keen, I know for sure that neither of us would trade this for anything. It is because of moving here, and having opened our mind to newness and scary risks, that we then ended up in Dubai. When our good friend invited us to visit her, we just knew that this would be another experience that we had to dive into, or else we would always wonder why not? And what it?
So that is how we ended up in the glittering city of Dubai. If you haven't seen my wife's vlog of the whole trip, click here!
Keep your mind open, be aware of opportunities, and make sure to jump on them. Nobody will offer you anything. Go out and get it!
