As Christmas fanatics, we could not
say no to the German Christmas Markets in Quebec City.
You never really know people until you spend over eight hours in one car, one way. And thankfully, we had an absolutely amazing ride to and from Quebec, filled with snacks, laughs, and some insightful conversations. But really though, nothing beats a luxury interior with seat warmers and massagers in the back seats!
GETTING THERE
Unlike the relatively 'short' drive to Montreal, a road trip to Quebec City from Toronto is roughly 8.5 hours, give or take. We knew that we needed a comfortable ride there, and thankfully, we were joined by our friends Mel + Dave who drove us in the beautiful Lincoln Continental.
And of course, a good solid hotel breakfast of fresh baked croissants and free-flowing coffee is something that I can't get enough of. Staying here, with those views, was exactly what we needed to set the tone for our Christmas adventures.
STAYING THERE
We once again called the Le Germain Hotels home for our Christmas Road Trip. The Le Germain Hotel Quebec, is a stunning property situated in a century old building located in the Old Port of Quebec. The street and the architecture is stunning, and immediately transported us back to Europe.
The stunning lobby of this boutique hotel are so inviting and cozy - they were the perfect backdrop to chill in while the snow poured outside.
THE CHRISTMAS MARKET
And then, the final test. The whole reason we made the trip to Quebec City was for the famed "German Christmas Market" located in the city centre. You all know that last year we did a Christmas Market Tour throughout Western Europe, right? If you haven't yet, check out the little video we put together!
So to say the least, this Christmas Market had very big shoes to fill. And boy, we were not disappointed. From the music and the ambience to the German offerings, this Market definitely got it right. There was German greetings everywhere, the smell of Gluehwein in the air, and actual German Christmas carols playing.
But you know what the best thing about Christmas Markets is? Its the people you go with. And we are so blessed to have met some amazing people in Toronto since moving here, and especially this trip highlighted how important these friendships are. Our road-trip to Quebec City and its German Christmas Market was filled with food, drinks and lots of laughs. And that's really what Christmas is all about right?
Happy to be back in Toronto and get into all the Christmas vibes here. How is your holiday planning going? Anything exciting coming up?
