Disclaimer: Sorry, but I was I had secret insider news on Christian Louboutin designing high-end luxury footwear for men. Sadly, this is not the case.
Girls get to have all the fun. When it comes to dressing up, they get to not only rock the outfit, but also perfect the hair & makeup, accessorize, and wear a pair of killer heels to top it all off. And of course luxury comes into play here, as it always does. Makeup can be Shoppers, Clinique, or NARS. Accessories can be Ardenes, the Bay, or Tiffany & Co. And pumps? Well there’s Aldo, there’s Nine West, and then, there’s Christian Louboutin. Most girls’ dream heels – and a huge part of that is the much coveted hand-painted-in-Paris red sole. This key signature detail sets it apart from other shoe designers, and not surprisingly, the idea sprang from Christian himself (pictured above) utilizing a bottle of Chanel Red Nail Polish and hand painting the sole of one of his now internationally acclaimed shoes.
Anyway, I’ve finally discovered the XY version of this phenomenon, and it comes via Hermès, another (not surprisingly) Parisian Fashion Super-House. What Louboutin does for chicks, Hermès does for dudes. A much coveted bright orange sole, one which sets it apart from other shoe manufacturers in the menswear industry, is the signature finishing details of all Hermes leather shoes. Since Calgary isn’t exactly a hub of Euro-Fashion, I’ll be hard pressed finding myself a pair of Hermès beauties, but IYBC can dream.
