Perhaps I’m alone, or perhaps many other men around the world are on the same quest? Another one of my “fashion” bucket list items for 2012 was to find the perfect handbag, both for everyday office use, but also for sartorial fashion forward looks on the weekend. And while speaking with many people about my hunt, the obvious – and sometimes cheeky – answer that most people throw at me is “why don’t you just get a Birkin?” And while this might be the ideal answer in a world where mortgages and engagement rings just miraculously appear, here in the real world, a Birkin bag isn’t really a viable option. From as far back as I can remember, I’ve looked to Mr. West for style inspiration, and it appears even he has embraced the daily handbag. Although some people in our world still call them “murses” or an accessory of the “meterosexual” (a term which I won’t even begin to dissect in this post, but a term which I loathe), the truth is that any urban male functioning in today’s world needs a bag, if not for lunch and a change of shoes, then for a pair of shades, a day planner, card holders, and various other necessities. Therefore, I have been relentless in my hunt for the perfect bag. That has meant scouring the internet for men’s bags sections, hunting boutiques and department stores, and keeping a keen eye out for other men who have fared more luckily then I. As for now, the hunt continues. Oh, and don’t even get me started on my hunt for the perfect portfolio (see pictured below). I will keep you all updated on the status of my search. Thanks for listening to my ultimate #fashionproblem.
