Love it or hate it, Valentines Day isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. After the excitement of Christmas and New Years has worn off, and with the drudgery of January, I actually look forward to a reason to take time to make someone special feel, well, more special. Because our plans of a Europe Trip got trumped and postponed once again, I thought I would give my girl the next bring thing: I would bring the City of Love to her (to the best of my ability). Call it cheeky or cliche, but her and I have been planning, dreaming and hoping to spend some time in Paris ever since we met, and it was all so close until school, work, and family obligations changed our plans yet again. So in honor of world-famous Paris, I planned a Valentines Day fit for a Parisian. So in case you need any ideas or inspiration on how to execute your very own French February the 14th, read on… The day began with breakfast served in bed (heart shaped French toast), continued with a delivery of French macarons to her office, and ended with a home-made dinner served in a make-shift Parisian bistro. With Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour playing in the background and a slew of burning candles, I served Steak Frites in woven baskets and red-checkered napkins, atop thick meat-packing paper. The evening ended with the perfect gift: an Eiffel Tower charm, ideal to be worn on a Sweetie charm bracelet, or as a necklace. I also got the Mrs. a Louis Vuitton Paris City Guide and “The Gospel According to Coco Chanel”; some light reading for whenever we actually take that midnight express train to the City of Love. Its all the small touches that came together to make a memorable Valentines Day. Click “READ MORE” for a snapshot of photos!
