MONCLER GAMMA BLEU, RICK OWENS, UMIT BENAN, LANVIN – FALL/WINTER 2012 RUNWAY SHOW
While there was a lot of re-occurring themes in this year’s fashion weeks, the one I least expected was the high-waisted pant. I mean maybe with a mega drop crotch Y-3-style, but as shown on the Lanvin look pictured above (far right), this just looks odd. You know I’m all for taking risks and going against the grain, but even on these perfect-bodied models, a high-waist on a pant either looks 1) sporty or 2) old-school. And I’m sure if you’re interested in portraying a runway image of yourself, neither of those definitions is desirable. I personally think that, at the end of the day, a look should be flattering to the body, which in turn should and will boost confidence of the person rocking said look, and isn’t that the whole point of fashion anyway? What are your thoughts on this emerging trend?
