Working and volunteering within the NGO world for a couple years has given me a new appreciation, and kind of an ownership, for anything to do with the constant fight against the devastation caused by the HIV/AIDS virus in Africa and all over the world. Last year, I posted about H&M’s collaboration with various artists including N.E.R.D. & Tokyo Hotel, to design safe-sex tee-shirts to raise awareness as well as funding for this noble cause. For their third installment of FAA, H&M brings us their Festival Collection, one which embraces the summer festivals that go on around the world around these months, complete with sleeping bags, folding chairs and tents. This capsule collection offers bohemian chic for the girls, with embellished necklaces, tunics, and gladiator style sandals. For the boys? Leather jackets, slim pants, cropped shorts, and military-esque shirts. 25% of all proceeds will go directly to Designers Against Aids. Expect very reasonable H&M price-points – available since May 20, 2010. I ran around all of Calgary to try and pick up my favorite pieces, only to find out this Festival Collection would only be offered in Toronto. I still love it though; amazing concept, well-styled photos, and one of the best causes.
“For me, festivals are unique and inspirational places as they join both music and fashion. To see your favourite bands, to see creative people gathered, all from different nations and with different looks really inspires me.” …ANN-SOFIE JOHANNSON, H&M’S HEAD OF DESIGN
