A few weekends ago I once again packed up the duffel bags and boarded a plane, this time en route to what most like to call “Canada’s New York”. It was a trip with the family, for the family; to see some uncles and aunts, to welcome in some new nephews/cousins to the mix, and to get away from our little big city to a big big city. The Greater Toronto Area, or GTA, is the most populated metropolitan area in all of Canada, consisting obviously of downtown Toronto, but also spreading out to the many regional municipalities consisting of Durham, York and Mississauga to name a few, and is bordered by Lake Ontario. During our stay, we also made the hour-and-a-half drive over to one of the seven Wonders of the World, Niagara Falls. I would describe The Falls as the family-friend kid brother of Las Vegas. The day and night-life is very vibrant, attractive and colorful – casinos, bars, restaurants, museums and snack bars are open late. Its funny because I’ve visited Toronto many times, and each time its been a completely different experience. I guess my age, mind-set and most importantly, the people I’ve travelled with have determined that for me. Overall I really enjoyed the get-away, but as per usual, its good to be back home.
