Sometimes when I am getting ready – especially for Fashion Week – I find myself gravitating toward one specific piece. That could be a watch, a hat, a pair of jeans or a dope pair of kicks. For this particular day during Berlin Fashion Week, I had this desire to wear my very favourite Alexander McQueen scarf that my wife gifted me for my 25th birthday. I definitely don’t think I wear it enough, and I’m so glad that I brought it to Berlin with me. So here’s my personal tip; when you’re in this type of a situation, it is actually very easy to build an outfit around a particular item. Take this McQueen scarf for example – I started with that and I built from there.

Obviously, the easiest way to build your look is by starting with the colours. For me, this was black and white, and so I knew I was going to be going dual-chromatic for the look. But if you think a bit deeper, you can really shell out an outfit. This silky scarf features a motif of skulls, and begs for a slightly rocker/punk feel with some edge. This is why I opted for my most distressed pair of white jeans, this dope perfecto vest, and a pair of killer shades.
Needless to say, after all the rocker-ish layers were put on, I stepped back and was very happy with my scarf-inspired outfit. It was perfect for running around to all the great fashion shows during Berlin Fashion Week. And if you want to have a look at our ‘best of’ video, click here to check it out!
