CENTRAL 899 @ HOTEL LE GERMAINE – 10.06.12
Its so rare that a birthday falls on a day that isn’t doomed to be mundane. Usually with work, or the weather, or other obligations, birthdays tend to be glorified dinners, with a get-together planned for a more practical weekend etc. But this year, my girlfriend was blessed to have her birthday fall on beautiful Sunday in June. This meant I had the wide open window to plan the entire day, from start to finish, to execute a beautiful birthday. We had an early brunch at Hotel Arts, and before the second step of our well-planned day, B came to a devastating realization. Her car was missing, potentially stolen. Two hours later, after calling the parking patrol, impound lot, insurance claims, and filing a lengthly police report, we were sitting down for a birthday lunch at Fiore’s on 17th with my family. The phone rang, and the police had found the stolen car, just three blocks away from where we left it parked the night before. Needless to say, the day was picking up again, and as we rushed to meet the police, I confirmed the last leg of our birthday tour, and immediately after re-claiming the car and bringing it back to its proper parking spot, I announced that some drinks were in order! Little did she know, her closest friends were waiting at Central 899, Crave cake and birthday confetti in toe, and all-in-all, the birthday ended as gloriously as it began, surrounded with love, beautiful settings, delicious food and much needed drinks.
