Looking to the runways for inspiration as Calgary finally rolls into a severely cold winter, I can’t help but be awe-inspired by the impeccable tailoring and multidimensional looks that came down the Italian catwalk a couple months ago. This helps me understand how some people can claim Fall/Winter as their favorite season – both fashion-wise and weather-wise. The leather gloves, the slightly cropped perfectly tailored pant, the patent boot, the long overcoat, the layers upon layers of monochromatic chic. I love the play with textures as opposed to the now-old color blocking rage that survived through Spring/Summer this past year. And my favorite trend of the season is the belted and buckled look, accentuating the male physique in all the right places. Whether underneath an overcoat or on a thick shearling jacket, I think everything just looks more put-together when its belted. Just the right pop of a more muted color (as in the DSQUARED2 bow-tie above) adds the right amount of enchantment to these structured looks. The inspiration is washing over me! Now if only I can find time in between work and school to wear these kinds of looks.
