Leave it to Karl Lagerfeld to painstakingly re-brand/re-create hundreds of mundane grocery store items into Chanel products. Everything from quilted crackers to chain link grocery baskets, no detail was left untouched in Paris this morning, as models perused the aisles of the “Chanel Shopping Centre” before descending down the runway sporting the latest masterpieces from the renowned fashion houses FW14 ready-to-wear collection, presented at the famous Grand Palais. The clothes themselves were beautiful as always, with the consistent re-interpretation of the tweed suit, but the styling was also bar-none for this show. Perhaps this is one the last few true spectacles of fashion left in the world – a twenty minute transformation into a glamorous fantasy world, where supermodels toss double-c branded caviare in their Chanel grocery baskets. Thank you Chanel, thank you Mr. Lagerfeld.
