"There is no more lovely, friendly and charming relationship, communion or company than a good marriage.” -- Martin Luther
I can't believe another whole year has passed since October 5, 2017, and before I knew it, I was getting ready to celebrate my third wedding anniversary. We've been so fortunate to be able to celebrate in the most interesting ways, and this year, for our third anniversary, it was no exception. We planned a trip to the historic city of Budapest, booked a stay at the #1 hotel in the world, and celebrated over and over. Today, I am sharing three of the ways we commemorated three years since we said 'I Do'.
- shopping + sightseeing -
There is so much to see and explore in Budapest, a city which actually used to be two unique cities, Buda and Pest. We actually did a walking tour to learn more about the history of the capital of Hungary; we strolled the promenade in front of the Danube river, climbed up to the old castle (which is now a museum) and just enjoying the crisp autumn feels in this cobblestoned city.
We also made sure we had some time for luxury shopping (hello, we needed anniversary gifts) and found out that Budapest has one of the highest VAT-back rates in the EU (18%!). This is the helpful information you're here for, I know.
- super fancy cocktails -
We knew we had to toast in a very special way for our wedding anniversary, and a quick search on Google came up with this must-visit spot in Budapest; the High Note Sky Bar. It was convenitently located right in our hotel, the Aria Hotel Budapest, on the top floor, and features breahtaking views of the entire city. Its also situated right beside the St. Stephen's Bascillica, and it truly offers the most unique scenes.
Apart from the location, the cocktail bar offers drinks inspired by world-famous films. Think the Mr. Big Cosmopolitan from Sex & The City, and the Dirty Martini from the James Bond movies.
- spa + sauna + relaxation -
The one thing that we never ever do enough is just chill around, have wine, relax, enjoy a hot tub dip, jump in a sauna, take a swim. And like everyone else, these are all things that we love. So for this anniversary, we thankfully took full advantage of Harmony Spa and returned there every night during our time in Budapest. And while we debated on booking a service, we definitely didn't even need to because the ambiance and mood was such that you were instantly transformed and in a comfortable space.
This was definitely the most relaxed and indulgent anniversary celebration we had to date, and I am looking forward to making this a tradition!
