wake up mr. west
Any OG Kanye fans out here? Who has been following the Louis Vuitton Don since College Dropout though?
I'm not one to call people out for being bandwagon fans or whatever - people discover trends and artists at their own pace and on their own time. But I do have a certain endearment towards fans of Kanye West who have been listening to his music from the beginning. For us, we are really able to witness his transformation as an artist, a creative, and just a regular guy trying to find his way. He was rapping about his mom, his Louis Vuitton belts, and finding his way into the world.
Over the last decade, watching his growth - from seeing him find a wife, have his babies, go on world tours, launch his sneaker collection, and now his second attempt at fashion clothing design with the YZY collection - has been both encouraging, inspiring and frankly very exciting.
This is probably the reason why, with every little project he does, us OG Kanye fans get very excited and want to support him in some way, shape or form. That support is sometimes monetary, sometimes social media driven, but usually just a joint appreciation and acceptance of what he does. Does this sound like a cult, lol? No, this is just a general feeling of loving something that is dope. And usually, whatever Kanye does it dope.
Anyway, this is why I embraced the collection that some people criticized - it is actually comfortable and a little bit cutting edge. And the best part is that I think this is more of a lifestyle way of dressing, and one that can easily be accomplished with pieces not directly from the collection.

So this is why I am always 100% behind Kanye. It is something which can be emulated, while still showing tribute to the creator. That is the best form of artistry, no? What do you guys think? Who do you try to emulate?
