I’ve never really been a fan of going grocery shopping, and despite the runway to reality type show that Mr. Lagerfeld showcased in Paris last week, I don’t anticipate a trip to Safeway being any more glamorous any time soon. That being said, I do have to say that with increasing knowledge of the agriculture and meat industries, food-handling procedures, and the giant multi-national corporations in control of the world’s food supply, a trip to the local food store these days can be a very daunting task. Reading food and ingredient labels is one thing, understanding what the “modified corn starch” really means, and the legislation regulating these industries, is both depressing and daunting. And then how much do you trust the higher-priced organic and local food stores? I have to admit, its become quite the challenge in our small household. I’ll report back soon on the progress we make and the decisions that lead to a healthier lifestyle.
