In France and parts of Germany, children leave their shoes in front of the fireplace on Christmas Eve in hopes that Heilige Nikolaus will fill them up with chocolate, trinkets, charms and goodies. Traditionally in Germany, this special event is celebrated on December 4, close to the first Advent. Regardless, B wasn’t here to spend Christmas Eve with me – she flew down to be with her folks at their mountain home in British Columbia, and so in her absence, I took the liberty of leaving her shoes out for St. Nicholas. Well actually, I left her new shoes out and this morning, she will discover what was left for her inside her shoes. From the looks of it, it seems that Santa Claus was especially nice to her this year! Click “READ MORE” to have a glimpse at all her little treats.
Happy Christmas!
