Five years ago, I was clamouring for the newest release of Nike SB Dunks (and this blog is a testament to that!) and three years ago, I had consigned, donated or given away almost all my sneakers as I transitioned away from student life and into the corporate world. A world of lace-ups and monk-straps. Two years ago, I was all about the Chelsea boot and strappy men’s sandal. Last year, given the fashion world’s embrace of sportswear, these comfortable and statement making shoes slowly crept back into my repertoire. And funnier still, this year, my fiancee and my little brother both independently gifted me with these Nikes for my birthday, and I can’t remember the last time I was more excited! They now prominently sit on my shoe shelf, and are rocked on “special” occasions – gone are the days of reaching for the Chelsea boots. Its a sneaker revolution, will you join in?
