Although I’m not complaining, I’m unsure how B and I get nominated to prepare Thanksgiving meal every year. Don’t get me wrong, we really enjoy cooking together and creating something memorable, but not only are we not every cooking-y people, we never even volunteer for the task. This year was a little different though, because we inaugurated my family’s new property in Canmore. In celebration of this, and of Thanksgiving, and of everyone being together, we decided to really roll up our sleeves and get to work. The menu for Sunday night included garlic and herb stuffed turkey, creamy home-made mashed potatoes, organic sweet potato souffle, baby home-grown carrots with parsley, warm red cabbage, asparagus drowning in Hollandaise sauce, home-made savory cheese and bacon scones, home-made cranberry sauce, pumpkin seed and cranberry green salad with avocado, and a mountain of gravy to soak it all in. For dessert, we whipped up home-made pumpkin spice latte cheesecakes, along with a home-made apple and cinnamon strudel. Delicious dinner, with massive compliments to my head chef, and a wonderful view in a warm and cozy new home. That in itself is enough to be thankful for. What did you do for Thanksgiving this year?
