So, this past week has been a week if you know what I mean. Without going into too many details, we made an earlier then planned trip to Calgary to deal with some property we own here. And at every possible turn, something unexpected happened. And everything seemed to continue becoming crazier and more insane. Honestly, I wish .I could say that most of the time, Monika and I laughed off the situation, but unfortunately, it just wasn't one of those type of things. We got stressed, and upset, and frustrated, and annoyed, and had to keep powering through and working through everything that was thrown at us. And I'm not being all cryptic just to be annoying, there is a point to the context of this week. I learnt a very important lesson this week, one that I think more of us need to realize and accept.
Most of you probably know that I'm a huge planner, and sometimes Monika bugs me that I spend too much time planning and not enough time doing. But this week showed me that you need equal parts planning and equal parts doing in order to succeed. No matter how frustrating the week was, we had both a plan, but also a strategy to just do. And I know for a fact that had we not gone ahead and "done", we would be further back then we are right now.
learn to accept the things you can not change, but plan for the things that you can
Without having gone ahead and "done" this week, I would be kicking myself. And without planning, everything would have fallen apart. So in short, my lesson this week was to realize the importance and balance of both of these things.
Make sure you plan (for the worst and for the best) and then take the jump and just do! I know I'm super bad for planning and planning, and being a bit hesitant to take the plunge and act of my plans, but this past week proved to me that without doing, planning is futile, and without planning, doing is random. And as an "adult" in this world, we really don't have the option to be futile or random, right?
