Arriving at the show a tad bit early is always a good idea, I’ve found, considering security was tight, obviously, for one of the most awaited shows of London Fashion Week. The prestigious house of Burberry brought its Womenswear show back to London this year, and chose the Rootstein Hopkins Parade Ground at the Chelsea College of Art and Design in Wesminster, London, as its venue – a four minute walk from the recently opened Burberry Global Headquarters on Horseferry Road. There was 150 front row seats available, and I personally saw the likes of Freida Pinto, Matthew Williamson, Anna Wintour & Emma Watson, among another lucky few, sitting in these coveted spots.
Before the show started, photographers snapped away, and journalists ran around trying to interview so-and-so as they came and went. Do you recognize that tell-tale blond bob or the gorgeous Oscar de la Renta dress?
Once inside, everybody found their spots pretty quick, and at this point, it finally hit me that I had a seat at one of the hottest shows of the season. My first “real” fashion industry experience, and what better way to begin this adventure than with Burberry? The amount of people who had standing room only was astounding. How privileged I felt to have a seat:
THE RUNWAY
Burberry branded candles lit up the walkway in, as servers held trays adorned with champagne for runway attendees. The show didn’t start for a little bit, but ended quiet quickly, (I think a total of about 14 minutes?). Afterwards, everyone headed straight back to the Global Headquarters to get their party on. I followed suit.
