It was only a matter of time, right? BFS that Rock & Republic realized that some people, most of the people with a real sense of style, care more about the cut, fit and wash of their denim, and not just the 3 lb back pocket. We asked, they delivered: the Recession Collection was a smashing success for R&R, obviously. Borrowing a page out of Cheap Mondays’ book, Rocks decided to offer their clientele an unembellished, lower-priced pair of jeans, which is now going to be incorporated into an ongoing range for them.
This “Plain Wrap” denim comes to us along with other Recession-inspired tees, sneakers, and windbreakers, all at a reasonable price-point, and all catering to the minimalist style gurus out there.
The collection, and most specifically the labels, were primarily inspired by those generic Superstore/Safeway brand canned food, where it just lists the item in plain letters, hence the plain & simple “JEANS” label. IYBC thinks this is dope, and maybe I’ll actually cop a pair of these Cheap Monday rip-offs. DENIM AVAILABLE FOR $155 IN AUGUST 2009 VIA ROCKANDREPUBLIC.COM.
