This is the sort of stuff dreams are made of, literally. Back in February when I first began this mini-series of posts, I blogged about the High Kai‘s via Nudie Jeans Co., and how perfect a basic pair of straight-cut black denim would be, considering its easy to dress them up and down. There’s something about the discreet black-on-black back pocket detailing that draws me to them. I mean, as much as I love the attention demanding thick white stitching of my True Religion Super Billy Big Ts, sometimes its nice to wear a tapered denim that is recognized and praised for its fit and cut more so than its iconic details: cue the Slim Jims in Dry Black Coated. My friend Pharrell owns a pair of these bad boys and everytime he wore them, I would just imagine how many different ways I could rock these, and I only dreamed of owning my own pair one day. And then, a few weeks ago, I saw them at Holt Renfrew, and during the 25% off weekend nonetheless! Man, it was like fate. The slightly tapered bottom is perfect for the dress shoes, for kicks, for chucks, for sandals, and honestly, the coated element adds so much charater to this denim, its unbelievable! And like I said, it seems lately I’ve been really leaning towards the black discreet peices. I truly beleive that these jeans are a style staple, though. I’ve already rocked them 3 times since I got them two weeks ago, and with my extensive denim collection, thats truly a rarity. Behold, my denim collection is now complete! ….yah right.
