I’ve only ever been to the much acclaimed Windy City once before in my life, probably five years ago, with the whole fam-jam on our last trip to Asia. Since then, I’ve become more educated about the world around me; music, culture, celebrity and fashion. And damn, Chi Town has been a place I’ve been yearning to check out. Home to one of my biggest heroes, Kanye West, alongside lyrical genius Lupe Fiasco and dope individual Common, Chicago is currently trying to snatch the Olympics Game for 2016. My flight was booked with a purposeful lay-over – I was planning on popping into downtown, checking out the “Magnificent Mile” (a stretch of the best shopping in the State), and grabbing some famous Chicago deep dish pizza. However, as my Twitter informed ya’ll, both the information lady and the security guard i spoke with warned against venturing out and not being able to make it back to the Airport in time. Ahh well, there’ll be another time, that’s for sure. So I opted to check back into security and just chill at my gate. HELLA BORING DUDE. But I did start and almost finish a book: For More One Day by Mitch Albom. My good friend Klow bought me Tuesdays With Maury for my 20th birthday, and I’ve been in love with Albom’s writing since then, and just been buying and storing his books, which I personally think is the death of a book. The purpose to purchase a novel is to read it, no? So I’m grateful that I got a few hours to rekindle a pastime that I’ve let slip away due to the rust of my life.
The O’Hare International Airport is a bustling hub of activity, and rightfully so. And I don’t know if this was just my experience, but Americans are pretty damn rude. I’ve never believed that stereotype, but shoot man, today proved me wrong. The people at the Starbucks, at the check-in counter, at security screening, at the Quizno’s, at duty-free…hahah errwhere man. Rude people dude. Strange.
Anyway, so that was my not so exciting Chicago experience. Still had a good time there though. I’m currently writing this from 35 012 meters above sea level, traveling 866 km/h on United Flight 803. The seat belt sign is on cuz foreal this Boeing 737 feels like a roller coaster ride right about now; mad turbulence yo! We were just fed a pretty decent hot chicken dish, and I think now the expectation is for everyone to sleep? I think I’ll just finish my book. Its currently 8:23 pm Calgary time, 9:23 pm in Chicago, 3:23 am in Londontown, and 4:23 in the morning up where Euro-FF resides. Shoot man, crossing time zones baby. Jet lag? Wuzzdat?!
I leave you with this: Summers gone too soon, Winters coming up
But you see I’m happy, things are looking good now
I feel so alive, I’m on overdrive
I’m killing it, I’m killing it
