Mrs. Euro-FF’s recent visit consisted of a whirlwind of meetings and outings, and so I really tried to find unique and obviously delicious places to have as our backdrop. One such spot which she had visited on a previous occasion is Avenue Diner, on Stephen Avenue in Calgary’s downtown core. Literally sandwiched between two store-fronts, AD boasts a signature red door to its patrons. Strange, Nectar had the same situation. Nonetheless, famous for their signature breakfast served all day (which in this case is 3:00 pm, when the establishment closes), Avenue Diner prides themselves in serving organic, non-chemical treated eggs and produce, from local farmers from around the area. Hey, that’s enough to convince us! We parked a few blocks down because unfortunately there is no street parking on Stephen Ave during regular office hours, and we braved a chilly morning to make it through that Red Door. But boy was it worth it. We requested a corner booth and pulled out our legal pads, day-planners, pens (see Mrs. Euro-FF’s Tiffany pen pictured above), notes, folders, binders, etc, and while we discussed business matters I enjoyed Dad’s famous aged white cheddar mac and cheese and she literally devoured her Avenue Signature Eggs Benny served over smoked salmon & lemon zest. I don’t think I’ve had a more delicious meeting!
