friday The weekend always comes too quickly for me right now with my current raging schedule. Before I knew it, I was en route to my part-time job in downtown Calgary, and only then did I realize that I left my BlackBerry Bold at home. Can’t honestly remember the last time I did it. Needless to say, my life was completely thrown off-balance. The upside? My Friday night stayed pretty wide open, which meant I was conveniently able to accept the welcoming invitation by the crew at American Apparel 17th to go chow down at the local joint on 17th Avenue, Farm. Priding themselves on serving locally grown and organic food from around the Southern Alberta region, they offered a pretty delicious line-up. It was refreshing in a way not to be on BBM & Twitter, and be just able to enjoy the more “basic” things in life – good food in interesting company, which leads to some pretty enlightening conversations. Wonderful Friday night – cue Saturday.
saturday After an almost luxurious experience at one of Calgary’s best known salons, I rushed across the street to work. Before I knew it, we were closing up and making plans for the evening. Like I’ve said before, Life of a Lolo? Hardly. Got ready to hit the town, and first met with URBAN Management at Earls Tin Palace and then headed over to Opus on 8th (obviously). The music did not disappoint, but the crowd? Funny how quickly things change around here man. Anyway, typical banter at Dennys later, I headed home during the early hours of Sunday…. cue Sunday?
sunday I’m proud to say that I’m back in routine to being a regular at Dad’s church, leading the congregation in the morning singing time. Along with my little brother accompanying on guitar, we always enjoy our little band session once a week. Afterward, with the usual running around with errands in preparation for a very busy week (as usual), I found time to accompany one of my best friend’s and her little brother to watch the theatrical release of Alice Sebold’s 2002 novel, The Lovely Bones. We debunked the strange yet beautiful movie over wings and bubble tea afterward. For any movie buffs out there, I strongly urge you to go watch this movie. I read on someone’s twitter that the movie truly shows the beauty within death. I couldn’t have put it better myself.
