Morroco has been on our travel bucket list for the longest time, especially with all of the prominent fashion personalities either taking refuge or taking inspiration for this Norther African country.
The vibrant and deep history of Marrakech is featured beautifully in the decor of the hotel. From the massive sun-soaked lobby with red roses to the luxuriously appointed suites with the wraparound terraces that overlook the expansive golf course, and with the Atlas Mountains in the background - everything is simple a sight to behold.
And because the trek to Africa is a hefty one from Canada, we decided it was best to capitalize on our prior work commitment (Milan Fashion Week) and head directly from Italy to Morroco.
For a portion of this trip, we partnered with the luxurious Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech, which is a massive property located about 15 km outside of the Medina in Marrakech.
The hotel is separated into different suite buildings, which we were originally driven to in a golf cart, but we definitely preferred to walk it and take in all the landscaped grounds. The temperature of our late February trip was simply perfect - not scorching heat and not overly windy.
One of the things that Marrakech is famous for is the stunningly decorated pool and spa areas that are traditionally found in the middle of Riads. The Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech created their own spa house with an instantly calming pool and spa area.
The suites also feature an 'unlimited' mini bar with coffee, juices, bottled water, which is vital when days are spent chilling around the massive infinity pools scattered throughout the property.
We also enjoyed the warm buffet breakfast spread, which featured 'Western' food items like eggs and waffles, but also a whole myriad of Moroccan delicacies like cheeses and buns and pickled vegetables.
This hotel was definitely one of the most beautiful stays we've had the privilege of experiencing - there really is nothing like Morrocon hopstiality, which we felt from the moment we stepped foot on the front driveway of the property, all the way until we were dropped off in the Medina via the complimentary daily shuttle.
“I believe that Marrakech ought to be earned as a destination. The journey is the preparation for the experience. Reaching it too fast derides it, makes it a little less easy to understand.”
