Our obsession with five knows no end. And while I know nothing about numerology, five is a very significant number for our relationship. So when it came time for our five year wedding anniversary, on the fifth - or our champagne wedding anniversary - our initial plans were wild.
The property took great precaution to be safe and welcoming to guests - with temperature checks, mandatory masks, tons of physical distancing, among others. For us, it was the first hotel we stayed in since our March escape with Sunwing Vacations, so just checking into a suite felt like pure luxury.
Our plan for the weekend was fairly straightforward - luxuriate in bathrobes, eat delicious food, get couples massages, lounge in the outdoor pool, sleep in, order room service, and enjoy the spectacular view of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
We had discussed a reunion in Prague, jetting off to a brand new destination, a glamorous soiree here in Canada - and of course, the pandemic had other plans for us. Plus, our little one was cozily reaching eight months in the womb, so we knew we had to make adjustments.
So we decided to pack up and head towards Canada's iconic Castle in the Mountains, the luxurious and historic Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel nestled in Canada's original national park, Banff.
And trust me, those views did not disappoint. From most of the hotel vistas and definitely from our room and from all the dining venues - every time we looked outside we were met with magnificence. Seriously, in rain or shine, the mountains look spectacular. And walking through this castle - albeit a bit more physically distanced - felt truly like being on a vacation.
The property also offers daily resort activities like campfires and guided nature walks, which we definitely took part of.
From Rundle Bar for all day dining, to the ultra decedent Vermilion Room, plus the super speedy in-room dining, we definitely ate our way through the Fairmont Banff Springs, and enjoyed every single thing!
In these times of uncertainty, it was wonderful to break the routine, get dressed up and check in for a luxurious stay. We spent so much time just enjoying each other's company, hanging around, opening presents, eating cake, re-living all our favourite wedding moments, re-watching old videos, and just taking it all in. The stunning property with literally everything right on the grounds made it so easy to feel safe. We didn't venture into Banff even once.
This was the perfect way to celebrate our five
year wedding anniversary. Thank you to the
Fairmont Banff Springs for hosting us!
