SOCIALE RESTOLOUNGE – 02.04.11
Wednesday July 11, 2012 marked a significant day in my life. Up until now, I have not openly posted anything about the unexpected death of one of my closest friends, and last Wednesday was her one year death anniversary. Pictured above is the last photo the two of us posed for, a few months prior to her passing. Even as I write this post, the words that my fingers are typing seem so unrealistic and unbelievable – “death” and “passing”, with these photos? Quim was one of my driving forces in completing university and the only reason I declared Sociology as my major. I was the first person to stay over at her new house, and she was one of the first to meet my girlfriend. The both of us shared such a special bond with her; from sharing recipes and exchanging plants, to late night conversations on speakerphone. From our “friend” in calculus class, to passing out on your couch in front of her parents, there are so many fond memories we shared. The news of her passing shook us in a way that nothing has yet. Try as I may, I fail to find a silver lining in this situation. We still think of and speak dearly of you Quim. The memory of our time together haunts us, literally.
