VICTOR & ROLF, KRIS VAN ASSCHE, DSQUARED2, BURBERRY PRORSUM, RAF SIMONS, MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA – SPRING/SUMMER 2013 RUNWAY
How is it that time again? HOW? Fashion week has come and fashion week has gone, and I caught a few updates via Twitter and in the blogosphere – but now that its all over, I’m so intrigued (as usual) by the looks that came down those European runways. For the most part, a very understated palette; grays, blacks, whites, creams, etc, but then accentuated with a bold patterned piece like a coat or a shoe. I’m more and more excited every season at how many risks these designers take. Menswear tends to be so dull when translated into the real world; well that’s how it is here in Canada anyway. With shows like these, and ad campaigns to follow, I hope that we can shed our gender ideals of how “men are supposed to dress”, and that we can all be free to express who we really are in. In the meantime, I know I’ll always keep on doing me, as usual! Dying over those coats, but loving the luxe light layering in the same colorways too. Understated luxury is so it right now.
