New York Fashion Week is a bi-annual industry event that brings editors, press, media, buyers, and other fashion personalities together to see what designers are putting together to dress the world for the following season. Apart from getting to travel to an exciting city and seeing all the new looks for the upcoming season at runway shows and presentations, fashion week is notorious for turning out some of the very best looks which inspire me and so much of the world.
This year, as Monika and I returned to NYFW, one of the biggest things we noticed was the change in street style. As Monika put it, "fashion is everything and nothing" - on the streets we saw thigh high boots, chunky heels, dad sneakers, and flip flops, and literally everything and anything in between. Its such an interesting moment in the fashion world right now, and I rounded up my favourite trends that I saw outside of the shows.
DAD SNEAKERS
Finally, a comfortable and practical trend that literally everyone can get on board with!
BELT BAGS
Another tick on the comfort + practicality scale is the belt bag, which leaves handsfree for drinks and mobile usage. Show-goers in New York wore these across body, on their waist, and on their shoulder.
COLOURED SHADES
One of my personal favourites is the coloured shades - such an easy way to bring your look to the next level.
LOGO MANIA
Another one of my personal favourites is the new obsession fashion has with logos because I've been pretty logo-obsessed my whole life anyway. So go on with that all-over monogram piece, cuz NYFW street style has approved.
That's why trend rocking is fun. You experiment with the fun pieces and see what fits in to your own personal style.
Will you be trying any of these trends?
