Yesterday, the entire nation of Canada enjoyed a much deserved statuary holiday, and (hopefully) celebrated the traditional autumn holiday of Thanksgiving.
An Americanized tradition of turkey/ham dinners, counting your blessings, and watching football, this holiday is pretty universal as far as western-national-holidays go. Everyone can relate to putting aside a whole day in order to give thanks for the material and non-material things that we can give thanks for it, be it thanks to God, another religious deity or simply, thanks to those around you. I enjoyed my turkey yesterday with a simple, quiet dinner @ home, but I know others had countless family parties, dinners with significant others, with friends, and with themselves. Anyway, this made me think about what I’m really thankful for at this moment in my life, and the list is pretty extensive;
- Stacey, and how amazing she has been in my life thus far
- B.R.Y.A.N., and their unconditional support in everything I do. It’s so comforting to know that I have a national network of friends literally from coast to coast.
- My Big Five, and their continuing huge aspect in my life
- The Louis Vuitton Damier Graphite collection… seriously Marc Jacobs is doing wonders at LV, and I’m thankful to be alive in this era.
- Nothing better than my family. I can literally be my REAL self, from first thing in the morning to last thing at night.
- Having the opportunity to attend University. I know a lot of people who strive to get here, both from my friends, and family around the world, and I’m happy to be here.
- My position as Corp. Billing Analyst, and the incomprehensible flexibility that my Coordinator & Team Lead throw in my face. Seriously; best student job ever.
- My work with and for the United Nation Children’s Fund on Campus has seriously kept me sane in times of stress. I find comfort within the structure and passion of my Exec team. Plus, the SU Office Space has already undeniably played a huge hand in my recent academic success.
- On top of the regular fam-jam, D&J have been an unbelievable structure for support and constructive criticism which I badly need in my life.
The Original Bitches & Pharrelland our freakishly wild nights out have definitely helped in keeping my stress levels down. We live on the basis of the usual “work hard to play harder” stigma, but more so to the fact that we’re only young ONCE, so being sleep deprived and hungover don’t matter!- The Summer Technological Upgrades are proving handy and convenient like you wouldn’t believe; Eva the Macbook, the new iPod Touch, my BlackBerry Curve, the car-starter on Stacey… I don’t know how I lived without this sh*t before! hahaha
