I never thought I would live to see the day that I would, once again, enter the realm of the Cyber World. As a young, easily manipulated individual in Junior High School, it was a thoughtless decision to jump the Asian Avenue bandwagon, username:fine_azn_boi. Dont laugh, cuz I wasn’t alone; all the “popular kids” had names just as descriptive and adverb-drenched: from azn_dr@gon_69 to s3xxxy_pinay to illest_pimpstah.(SIDEBAR: Actually, I’m pretty sure one of my friends still uses his “illest” email as his contact on his resume.)
After that was the era of CalgaryPlanet.com, another short lived and much acclaimed Internet community. And then, ahh my favorite of all time, Nexopia.com.
This is where I truly flourished; my blog was ALWAYS updated, and people actually took the time to read it, which sometimes threw me off guard. My pictures and page information was always changed, everyone always noticed any change, any random information, any sideways insult, any celebration, and needless to say, life pretty much ran on Nex. And then, alas, the internet community spread its arm wide to feel the cold, hard embrace of Facebook.
And for some reason (which I’m still not sure of) I decided not to jump on the bandwagon. I continued to Nex it up, changing and updating my friendslist, adding comments on peoples pages, etc. I was so persistant on keeping Nexopia alive. I wasn’t going to let go of my best-cyber-friend and move unto “bigger and better things”.
NAS said it best; I dont wanna keep bringing up the greater times, But I’m a dreamer, nostalgic with the state of mind. He for sure speaks on behalf of both of us.
Anyway, eventually I stopped trying with Nex, stopped logging on and updating my page, because no one cared at all about checking that shit. That was a huge waste of Nexopia Plus (which ran out this last April).
That was about a year ago. I resisted FB as much as humanly possible (which isn’t very much at all). I mean, I used Kiko’s and Ashley’s and Marlo’s Facebook accounts to creep on people once in a while, but one of my New Year’s Resoultions for 2008 was to not go on Facebook at all.
So far, its the only resolution I’ve ever kept.
That being said, I guess what I’m trying to say is: “HELLO BLOGGER. ENDULGE ME IN YOUR CYBER GOODNESS”. I will once again begin an affair with an online community. Let’s see where this one takes me, or leaves me.
