Bali has long been a destination that is popular among tourists, and lately, with the rise of Instagram, it's become even more of an 'Insta-destination'. So naturally, when we headed to this Indonesian region, we took to the internet and found this spot - Lloyd's Inn Bali - and booked our stay at this very Instagram hotel. Today, I am sharing what it's really like to stay at one of these!
All of the rooms and suites in the property are different, and we picked a mid-range option. It featured a stand-alone bathtub on the balcony, a his + hers sink, and the rest of the standard amenities like bathrobes, air conditioning, and the Lloyd's branded toiletry kit.
This modern and minimal boutique hotel is located in Seminyak, one of the towns in the province of Bali in Indonesia. It's about a thirty minute drive from the airport, and thankfully, we had booked a car service as our flight landed pretty late into the evening from Singapore.
One of the amazing things about Bali is how little is actually mapped, so a lot of drivers do guesswork to find the right spot. One sharp turn off the main road, down a winding pathway, you end up at Lloyd's. And yes, you almost instantly enter a calm state after passing through the creamy walls.
In a place like Bali, you truly wouldn't be spending too much time in a hotel, but in the case of Lloyd's, we actually spent a ton of time in the mornings lounging around the property. There was definitely some issues like the electricity going out specifically in our room a handful of times, or the bathtub not working, but the front desk always sent an engineer promptly to come and attend to it.
Those mornings were definitely some of the very best - being served breakfast sitting in the warm climate and just enjoying the chill tunes. I would 100% recommend booking the breakfast package, because it was priced at approximately $20USD per person for walk-ins and that seemed to be a standard price point.
We booked the package that included the daily breakfast - which was half buffet and half a la carte, which was such a pleasant way to enjoy the first meal of the day. Served in the ultra-zen courtyard area, the buffet offering featured fruits, pastries and some Indonesian dishes, and the menu offer (which changed daily) included Eggs Benedict and waffles.
The hotel also featured a rooftop pool with lounge chairs, a sun soaked but air-conditioned lounging area, and a spa which was unfortunately being renovated while we were staying. This also meant that the constant noise of construction was pretty loud all day. The hotel definitely made everyone aware and even gifted complimentary tote bags to guests as an apology. A nice touch for sure, but still kind of an annoyance, and something else to keep in mind. I believe construction is scheduled to be finished by Fall 2019.
Overall though, for those of us who case after
the aesthetic, Lloyds in Bali was super on point.
All the chill, minimal, earthy vibes, in a very
spacious property with gracious staff.
