Having had the good fortune of visiting Paris since I was 19, I would say that I know a thing or two about choosing accommodations in the City of Lights. When Monika and I started dating, we would save all our credit card points and would blow them on our Paris hotels. I foolishly thought that staying on the same block as Colette would mean the hotel would be amazing. Wrong.
After many failed attemps (and money and points wasted) we concluded that Paris hotel rooms came in two categories: spend thousands a night for a good one, or spend hundreds a night and just don’t spend any time in the room, at all. It’s Paris after all and who wants to sit at a desk when you can be sitting at a cafe, right?
We found this hotel on Booking.com, and although at first, I was hesitant because it wasn't 'central' enough for me, it was actually the best accommodation we have ever had in Paris. The location was so ideal for walking, for Metro-ing, for cabbing, and for photoshoot-ing, I can't believe we haven't stayed in this part of Paris before.
The only thing is, with our line of work, we’re usually always working, and this trip to Paris wasn’t for fun, it was for Fashion Week, and so not only did we need a central location but we also needed a place with strong internet, even stronger coffee, and a decent working situation for late night post-Show editing. Enter Hotel Champs Elysées Friedland!
The four-star boutique hotel was a traveler's dream - fresh and comfortable bed, unlimited complimentary coffee, gorgeous balconies with Parisian views, and the most friendly and accommodating staff. A property like this thought of all the details that other hotels might overlook, like the super convenient 'pocket WiFi' device for only €3,00 per day, which allowed you to connect up to ten devices for unlimited surfing. This was perfect for Instagraming live from the shows!
The spacious room had tons of spots for both Monika and I to work and collaborate comfortably - we would sometimes get in such a groove that we had to remind ourselves we were in Paris and should leave the room and go out and explore!
And since PFW means a ton of emails and editing, the abundance of seating + working space is absolutely key for a hotel, and Hotel Champs Elysées Friedland did not disappoint!
Other amazing benefits available to guests are a deliciously warm and hearty breakfast buffet that is served daily, and the most convenient shared airport transfer option which picks you up from outside and drops you off at Charles de Gaulle Airport for only for €18/person (considering a taxi transfer to the airport can range upwards of €60, this is truly a steal!).
For our PFW stay, the hotel was able to provide an abundance of clothes hangers, an iron whenever we needed, and an early check-in so we could get ready and head to our first event right away. The beauty of a boutique hotel is the ability to accommodate all of these type of special needs and do so with a bright smile on their face.
Also, we are so happy to be able to provide all of you with $40 off your next stay using Booking.com! Simply click here, enter your email address, and your special offer will be there - it never expires and you don't need to book right away at all.
After so many trips to Paris, I can't believe that this hotel has made me fall so in love with this city again.
Thank you Hotel Champs Elysées Friedland &
Booking.com for hosting us during PFW! We can't
wait to return to Paris.
